United Launches First Asia-Pacific Nonstop Service From Washington, D.C.By Jason A. Martin on October 29th, 2006
United Airlines launched its first-ever Asia-Pacific nonstop service from Washington, D.C. Sunday. The new flight will offer nonstop travel for passengers and cargo from Washington D.C. to Tokyo Narita, Japan. The new flight was celebrated by ceremony at Washington Dulles International Airport. Representatives of the Japanese Embassy and United Airlines were present. The new flight path will feature the Boeing 777 aircraft, which seats 252 passengers. United Airlines said the Boeing 777 will have 10 passengers in United First®, 45 in United Business®, and 198 in United Economy®. Initial fares from Washington D.C. to Tokyo Narita will be around $434 each way—based on a roundtrip and advance purchase. United Airlines previously had 12 nonstop flights to Japan from around the U.S. “We’re pleased to offer our passenger and cargo customers service between our nation’s capital and those around the world—connecting great political, economic and cultural centers,” said John Tague, executive vice president and chief revenue officer for United Airlines.
