Expedia is about to get a welcomed upgrade. JetBlue is about to embrace the Internet by committing to a long-term deal with Expedia.

JetBlue flights will now be listed on Expedia. According to the companies, this initial deal is for five years.

On October 31, I reported that an airline rate hike was canceled. Two of the four airlines mentioned in that report have raised rates on many routes by $10 per round trip this week, which is higher than the failed raise of last week.

At a cocktail party with over 300 guests, which included many journalists, Thailand Airways International Executive Vice President Narongsak Sangapong announced the airline would be flying to three new destinations in India.

The three new destinations in India are Hyderabad, Bodhgaya and Varanasi, Sangapong said.

Air France is considering adding Memphis, Tennessee to their routes. The speculation came after Air France executives held their North American marketing and sales meeting in Memphis.

New EU travel rules regarding liquid items on commercial flights will take effect November 6.Restrictions to carryon luggage go into effect April 17.

Passengers will be limited to brining on containers that contain no more than 100 milliliters of liquid. Furthermore, the containers will need to fit within a clear plastic bag for inspection.

The rules are less strict for liquid packed in checked baggage.

A recent initiative by some airlines to increase fares by $6 per round trip was canceled Sunday.

The move was prompted when United Airlines went back to the old rates on Saturday. They were the airlines that had initiated the rate hike.

Continental Airlines, Delta Air Lines and Northwest Airlines followed the leader on Sunday by reverting to their original fares.

Singapore Airlines has announced a new in-flight feature for those demanding an upscale experience while flying—Luxury Suites.

The new feature is really a very wide seat that folds back and becomes a bed. While it’s big enough for two people, Singapore Airlines was quick to point out that it’s one per person.

Before you run out to book your next flight on Singapore Airlines, you should be aware of the cost. According to the airline, luxury suites are $10,000 round trip.

United Airlines launched its first-ever Asia-Pacific nonstop service from Washington, D.C. Sunday. The new flight will offer nonstop travel for passengers and cargo from Washington D.C. to Tokyo Narita, Japan.

The new flight was celebrated by ceremony at Washington Dulles International Airport. Representatives of the Japanese Embassy and United Airlines were present.

The new flight path will feature the Boeing 777 aircraft, which seats 252 passengers. United Airlines said the Boeing 777 will have 10 passengers in United First®, 45 in United Business®, and 198 in United Economy®.

According to the Oklahoman, there were fewer air passengers flying out of Oklahoma in September 2006 than August 2006. However, the numbers are still higher than the 2005 air travel numbers for the same months.

September 2006 was a 1.76 percent increase over the same month in 2005. These numbers can be a little misleading for the normal traveler.
