Fiji Travel Alert

Australia has issued a travel alert for Fiji, a popular winter getaway, due to political instability.

The military is at odds with the government and the situation could flair up without warning at any time.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Australia is warning travelers in the Fuji area to avoid public demonstrations and concentrations of locals.

“Such events could become catalysts for civil disorder,” the DFAT’s report said.
